What does the course cover?
This comprehensive course covers a range of topics critical to the provision of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Key topics include:
- How to treat a casualty and prioritise life-threatening conditions.
- How to provide basic life support.
- How to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants.
- How to recognise potential injuries and observe vital signs.
- Learn about the circulatory system and shock.
- How to respond to medical emergencies including choking, cardiac emergencies, stroke, seizures, drowning, and poisoning.
- How to respond to injuries and accidents including spinal injuries, bleeding, burns, fractures, and dislocations.
- How to respond to envenomation including bees, spider bites, snake bites, and others.
- Learn about first aid kits, their contents, and uses.
Course Delivery and Assessment
Our course is delivered by experienced first-aid trainers and includes PowerPoint presentations, practical hands-on activities, and real-life simulations.
This course has a blended delivery format and participants are required to complete online pre-learning and assessment followed by a 1-day comprehensive face-to-face practical session.
Learners will need access to a laptop or computer with internet access to complete the eLearning and assessment at least 48 hours before attending the practical session.
The assessment includes knowledge questions and practical scenario-based assessments including the requirement to correctly perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor.
New Starter
This is a 2-day fully face-to-face course suited to learners who are new to first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation and those seeking a comprehensive learning experience to obtain life-saving skills.

What are the Entry Requirements?
Nexar Training Academy requires learners to have the required level of language, learning, and numeracy skills required by the course, ACSF level 2. If you require further information on this, please contact us.
Please note that as part of the assessment learners are required to demonstrate the ability to correctly perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor. If you have any limitations that may impact your ability to do this, please let us know prior to enrolment.
Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for students looking to enroll in this course.
Course Outcome
By successfully completing this qualification you will be issued a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)
